The International Film Festival of Marrakech was created in 2001 by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to promote and develop the art and film industry in Morocco.
The ambition was to create a bridge between the cinemas of the North and those of the South, to reveal films and talents of different genres, but also to promote the promotion of Moroccan film.
After 15 years of existence, the Marrakesh Festival is today a place of expression and discovery that is very high up the challenge of diversity, exchange and enrichment.
It is also an opportunity for Morocco to welcome and pay tribute to great personalities from the world of cinema.

The Marrakech Festival is distinguished not only by the quality of its programming, but also by its editorial and artistic positioning that favors a great cinematographic openness.
Each year, the event offers a wide selection of films of different genres and nationalities, Masterclasses, tributes, "Coups de cœur" in Moroccan cinema, films in audio-description for non and visually impaired ... The Marrakech Festival remains the only uncensored festival in the Arab world, with screenings entirely subtitled in English and Arabic. It also has the distinction of being a place for young talents to blossom, thanks to its Cinécoles competition, which rewards the best short films by the film students of the Kingdom.
The Marrakech Festival is also distinguished by its geographical location in the mythical city of Marrakech, whose history, values ​​and international influence make it a destination of reference.
